Cassia joined the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department in 1992, coming
from the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department in Old Greenwich,
Connecticut. Kim began her volunteer career as a Red Cross
Volunteer at the age of 15 with the Disaster Services Unit ~ doing
first aid events, fire standbys, and various disaster relief events
and activities. From the Red Cross she joined the Sound Beach
Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where she became an EMT and eventually a
Lieutenant in the organization. In 1986 she took the State of
Connecticut firefighter 1 course and from there proceeded to take
courses up to the level of Fire Officer 2 and Fire Service
Instructor 2. Again rising in the ranks of the Sound Beach
Volunteer Fire Department to senior first lieutenant as well as
department secretary. In the Monroe Fire Department Kim has moved
through the ranks in both the line and executive branches as well,
from Secretary to President and from Lieutenant 2511 to 2nd
Assistant Chief 253. Kim works as the Elderly Services
Coordinator for the Town of Monroe, Norwalk Community
College as an Adjunct Instructor in Therapeutic Recreation,
the Connecticut Fire Academy as an Instructor and
Certification Proctor and as an EMT for Greenwich EMS. She
resides in Monroe with her husband Dennis Cassia and their
dog Cinder. |
