Chief George Lattanzi joined the
department in May of 1993 at the age of 18. He was
introduced to the department by his close friend whom had
joined the department and persuaded him to follow. From
1993 up to the present he has served as a rookie,
firefighter, lieutenant, captain, assistant chief, and now
voted in as chief in 2006. George has been on several
committees and also served on the executive board for 2
years as recording secretary. George has received the
firefighter of the year award, along with several other
department citations. In the past, he worked for the Town
of Monroe as a paid E.M.T. and now secures a full time job
outside of Monroe. George lives locally with his wife
Christel and mother Marilyn. Christel is an active member
of the fire department in the aspect of heading the
department’s open house during fire prevention week.
Marilyn is also involved through the ladies auxiliary.
