The
Monroe Volunteer Fire Department
is one of three 100% volunteer fire rescue departments protecting the town of
Monroe, Connecticut. Monroe is located approximately 11 miles north of
Bridgeport, Connecticut and 60 miles northeast of New York City. The
department currently utilizes two engines, one quint, one rescue, one squad, one
tanker, and a chief's vehicle. Firefighters provide fire, rescue, and
emergency services to over 20,000 citizens covering 26.3 square miles.
Along with the Town of Monroe, the department also provides mutual aid to the
surrounding communities. Each of our dedicated firefighters is a non-paid
professional. They come from all walks of life, many are highly educated
individuals with families, and long commutes to and from work each day. Some
reside in the town, others do not. The one thing they all have in common is they
are volunteers, dedicated to helping others. They give countless hours of their
own time and resources, all without compensation. They train extensively and when
called to duty, serve the residents of Monroe, with excellent fire protection
and rescue services. |
