Tuesday, January 31, 2006

At 1509 hrs units were dispatched to IFO 470 Monroe Tpke. for the MVA with car on fire, and people trapped. 251 (Chief Davin) and E-201 arrived to find a single vehicle into a sign, no fire, no entrapment. E-201 and E-101 (Stepney) secured all hazards and cleared. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries, while the fire hydrant was pronounced DOA.

   

Outside Fire

At 1011 hrs. units were dispatched to 237 Fan Hill for the report of wires pulled off the house with the side of the house now on fire. Due to Q-200 and its crew being out of town for live fire training, T-100 (Stepney) was dispatched as the first due truck. 252 (Asst. Chief Marsden) arrived to find wires pulled of the house by a tree, and the fire extinguished by PD 252 held it to E-201 to await the arrival of the power, phone, and cable companies. E-201 took up in just over an hour.

Smoke Scare and House Lock Out

At 09:32 hours Monroe Fire was requested to the 500 block of Elm Street for reported heavy smoke in the area.  E-201 arrived to find a smoke condition throughout the area and surrounding roads.  201 attributed the smoke to DPW burning the town dump.  Around noon time the Engine was alerted to a child locked in a residence.  The engine arrived and popped an exterior door for the homeowner.

Vehicle Fire

At 1749 hrs units were dispatched to 476 Moose Hill Rd. for the car fire. 253 (Asst. Chief Lattanzi) arrived to find a single vehicle with the engine compartment going good. Upon E-201's arrival the car was well involved. The engine crew put a quick knock on the fire and mopped up. Units were on scene for just over 20 minutes.

MVA with Injuries

Monroe was dispatched along with Stevenson to IFO 1183 Monroe Tpke. for the MVA with injuries. E-201 and Q-200 went en-route and arrived with R-320 (Stevenson) to find a 3 car MVA with minor injuries. Crews applied speedy-dry for fluids on the ground and secured all hazards. Monroe units took up in just over 20 minutes

   

Vehicle into the Woods

at 0520 hrs. units were dispatched for MVA car into the woods. E-201 arrived to find a single vehicle into the woods with the driver out of the vehicle. 201 secured all hazards and assisted with patient care until the arrival of EMS. 201 remained on scene until the arrival of the wrecker. This was the first of four primaries for Monroe today.

   

MVA Rollover
Monday, January 16, 2006

at 1341 hrs. units were dispatched to Fan Hill Road and Garder Rd for the MVA rollover. E-201 arrived first due and found a single vehicle on its roof in the woods, with all occupants out of the vehicle. E-201 and R-120 (Stepney) secured all hazards, and 201 remained on scene until the wrecker removed the vehicle. For pictures visit www.stepneyfire.com.

Engine/Quint TaskForce Runs to the WestSide

Shortly after 1 AM, Stepney Fire Command requested 1 engine and the Quint to respond to Smoke on the first floor of a large manufacturing facility.  Engine 201 and Quint 200 responded.  Units assisted with the investigation and found several machines with motors burnt out due to an electrical malfunction in the building. 

 

 

MVA Rollover

At 01:33 hours units were dispatched to the 600 block of Elm St. for the MVA rollover. 251 (Chief Davin), 201, and 200 went en-route. 201 arrived to find a single vehicle rollover with no entrapment. Crews secured all hazards and provided patient care until the arrival of EMS. This was the first of four primaries for Monroe today.

   

Engine Runs to Shelton

Monroe was dispatched as mutual aid for Shelton Company #3 (Huntington) to stand-by at their quarters while they worked a first due structure fire. Busy Day

A busy day for the Monroe Volunteers, doing ten runs total, seven primaries. The ten runs consisted of 1 EMS assist, 4 commercial FA., 2 residential FA, 1 CO problem, 1 gas leak, and, 1 smoke in the area. Our camera guy was too excited doing all these calls and forgot to take pictures!

 

Gas Leak

Upon clearing burnt food on the stove from the Senior Dr. housing, units were dispatched to 292 Elm St. for the gas leak. This assignment brought Safety Officer 264, Q-200, E-201, and E-101 (Stepney) to the scene. Crews metered all stores within the complex and the main gas feed on the exterior of the complex. A small leak was found on the main gas feed, crews awaited the arrival of Yankee Gas and took up.

This was the third call of the day for Monroe.

   

Smoke Scare

At 13:50 hours Monroe Fire was alerted to an odor of smoke in the residence at 558 Fan Hill Road.  The alarm brought Engines 201, 204, 104, 302; Quint 200, Truck 100; Safety Officer 264, and Chief 251.  200 arrived first due reporting nothing showing from the exterior.  Second arriving Engine 201 backed in to let their crew assist 200 and prepare for a reverse lay. E-204's crew stood fast in case a line was needed.  Smoke was determined to be coming from a malfunctioning washing machine.  Units took up.

 

Rollover MVA

At 00:52 hours Monroe Fire along with EMS was alerted to Barn Hill Road @ Nelson Brook for a rollover MVA.  The first arriving Lieutenant advised one occupant trapped.  E-201 arrived with 5 and determined that the occupant was uninjured and trapped by seatbelt only.  The crew awaited EMS arrival and assisted with patient removal.

   

Smoke Scare

At 12:58 hours Monroe Fire was alerted to the Stevenson section of town for an automatic alarm with a smoke condition in the residence.  Engine 201 went enroute with 5 and arrived second due behind Engine 302.  The captain inside directed 201's crew to stretch a line to the front door for a possible ceiling fire.  The engine crew prepared to strect the pre-connect, yet the interior captain cancelled stating he had a smoke detector which had shorted out due to a water leak creating a very minor smoke condition.  Monroe units cleared shortly thereafter.

Kitchen Fire
Monday, January 02, 2006

At 14:39 hours Monroe Fire was dispatched to the reported house on fire at 247 Purdy Hill Road.  Chief 251, Engine 201, Engine 101, and Truck 100 arrived to find a kitchen fire extinguished primarily by the homeowner.  Members performed final extinguishment, overhaul, and ventilation.  Engines 204,  Squad 230, Quint 200, and Tanker 316 stood by for assistance.  Units were on scene for approximately 25 minutes.

Motor Vehicle Accident

Monroe Fire responded to the Stevenson District Mutual Aid for a wreck.  E-201 arrived and secured the fluid hazard.  Q-200 stood by for any additional alarms during the incident.

   

Smoke Scare

At 05:22 hours Monroe Fire was dispatched to 200 Monroe Tpk for reported smoke in a large commercial structure.  This brought E-201, 204, 101, 104; T-100; Q-200; and Chief 251.  251 arrived first to find an occupied structure and began the evacuation.  Second arriving T-100 split up and went to the roof as the report stated the smoke was coming from the air ducts and the 2nd floor.  E-201 took the basement, while Quint 200 took the first floor.  204 took the plug while 104 and 101 investigated the surrounding area because of reports of smoke in the area.  Smoke was contributed to a wood-burning stove behind the establishment.  All units cleared

Electrical Fire

At 05:22 hours Monroe Fire was dispatched to 40 Woodlawn Drive for the possible structure fire.  Chief 251 arrived to find a 2 story wood frame with nothing showing.  E-201 and Q-200 arrived to find a fire in the electrical panel.  Members opened up the surrounding area, extinguished remaining fire with a dry chem and ventilated the structure.  Units worked for approx. 45 minutes.

At 08:46 units were dispatched to Route 34 by the dam for reported truck on top of a car.  E-201 and Q-200 were staffed, but held in house as PD was reporting a minor mva, no truck on car, no injuries.  Upon arrival of the Lieutenant, one unit was requested for a door pop.  E-201 took it in and arrived shortly.  The patient was uninjured and 201's crew assisted her out the rear of the vehicle.   Cribbing the car   Trying before prying

At 01:32 hours Monroe Fire, along with EMS was requested to IFO 441 Moose Hill Road for a reported MVA unknown injuries or entrapment.  E-201 arrived first to find a 2 vehicle MVA, no entrapment, no complaints.  E-201 secured all hazards and awaited the arrival of EMS.  The truck has hit the the smaller Saturn, which was unoccupied parked off the road.   The Saturn was unoccupied thankfully

At 14:20 hours Monroe Fire was dispatched to a reported car vs. pole at 171 Cross Hill Road.  This brought E-201, 104; R-120; and C-251.  251 arrived first to find a tri-axle which had gone through a pole and struck a structure.  Crews checked the scene for hazards, secured a diesel leak, secured the structure's utilities and awaited the arrival of the the CT DEP, building inspector and towing company.  Units remained on scene for over 3 hours   Tri axle went through a pole, followed by a living room   Major damage to the front of the Tri-Axle
