Motor Vehicle Accident

At 15:48 hours Monroe fire was alerted to a reported vehicle accident IFO 1014 Monroe Tpke (Masuk High School) with fluids leaking.  First arriving units found a vehicle that had gone off the road and stuck the granite sign in front of the school and continued into a ditch.  Occupants were found to be out of the vehicle and all hazards were mitigated.

Another Busy Day for Monroe w/ an Attic Fire

Today began at 1116 hours with an automatic alarm on Bug Hill Road [1st due district], where units found the same.  Then at 1326 hours Monroe Fire was dispatched to a reported automatic alarm at 227 Monroe Tpke, finding that the alarm was set off in error.
Moments later the alarm was struck for a possible fire at 39 Maple Drive in the Stepney District.
E-201 and T-100 immediately cleared the automatic alarm to respond to the fire.  Dispatch received multiple call backs stating smoke showing.  E-201 arrived to find a 3-story wood frame with smoke and fire showing from the attic.  E-201 assumed the first due engine position stretching a line to the attic where the fire was found.  Truck 100 arrived immediately behind E-201 and split up with 2 to the roof and 3 for search and opening up.  Seconds later E-101 arrived and assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. Members encountered moderate fire conditions in the attic, but quick work was made of the fire.  E-206 (Long Hill) and T-559 (Botsford) also responded to the incident.  C-253 (Lattanzi) had Maple Drive command.  Units were on scene for just over an hour.
During the attic fire, Monroe was dispatched to an outside fire on Monroe Tpke, Stevenson handled this alarm.  Following the attic fire, at 1528 hours units were alerted to 40 Yankee Hill Road for the automatic alarm.  Companies on scene once again found the same.  To end the day units were alerted to Tutor Time Day care (477 Main St) for the automatic alarm, where units found a malfunctioning alarm.  Later in the evening Monroe responded to a reported electrical outlet sparking at Hidden Knolls Senior Housing.  The day finished up with a total of 4 primary runs and 3 mutual aid runs.

Action Packed Day for Monroe

Today Monroe Fire participated in live training with the Stepney Fire Department from 07:00 hours to 17:30 hours[pictures coming soon!].  During the training, additional Monroe Fire personnel ran four primary alarms consisting of 2 automatic alarms, 1 car vs. pole, and to finish up the day 1 animal rescue.

Monroe fire was dispatched to a reported car vs. pole.  Chief 253 (Lattanzi) arrived and found the same and held it to Engine 201 to secure hazards and a minor fluid spill.  Monroe ran an additional 2 primaries throughout the day.

Monroe fire was kept busy throughout the day with multiple alarms.  The company ran a total of 6 alarms, 4 of which were primary.  The calls consisted of 1 residential fire alarms, 2 commercial fire alarms, and 3 motor vehicle accidents, one of which was an extrication.

Automatic Alarm turns into a Smoke Condition

At 00:12 hours Monroe Fire was dispatched to 358 Wheeler Road, Fairway Acres, apartment 3-Bravo for the automatic alarm.  Chief 251 (Davin) arrived reporting a smoke condition in the residence due to burnt food, and took command. Engine 201 and Quint 200 arrived simultaneously and went to work ventilating the structure.  Crews utilized positive pressure ventilation (PPV) to clear the structure of all smoke.  Units operated for approximately 20 minutes.

Car Vs. Pole

At 0803 hrs Monroe was dispatched with EMS to the intersection of Fan Hill and Rt. 111 for the M.V.A car vs. pole,  unknown injuries or entrapment.  E- 201 and Q-200 went en-route.  201 arrived to find a single vehicle that snapped a pole.  No injuries were reported, and 201 held it to themselves to secure hazards and take the report.

Brush Fire

At 1323 hrs Monroe was dispatched to Purdy Hill and Elm St. for the brush fire. E-201 and T-216 arrived to find a large stump and base of a tree on fire.  ignition was caused by the heat of the chainsaw blade cutting the tree.  the fire was quickly extinguished and units returned to service.  253 (Asst. Chief Lattanzi) had the brush fire command.
